One in five Americans has experienced mental illness and the pandemic has dramatically increased depression and anxiety, but many are reluctant to seek help or don’t know where to turn for care. The Purpose

Golden Therapeutic Life Coaching (TLC) is a Black independently owned and operated mental health coaching practice whose mission is to move the lives of Black and Brown folks to healthier spaces. Through not only one to one work, but also professional developments/trainings and community engagement, the goal is to inform and engage those within and outside of the community on our unique perspectives and needs.

By recognizing the experiences that people of color share in relation to the intersection of race with other areas of life, founder Simone Golden is able to provide a culturally informed and specific support to those for which representation matters in provider choice.

Working specifically with and as as an advocate for folks of color was an important aspect in the establishment of Golden TLC. Simone’s personal experiences as both provider and consumer has contributed to the significance of representation not only mattering, but being a vital aspect when considering programming for individuals of color.

Simone Golden

Welcome! My name is Simone Golden and I am a Master’s Level Licensed Social Worker and Certified Professional Coach with more than 15 years of experience working primarily with individuals, children, and families of color. I started my career in community mental health and it was in these early years that I began to understand that my TRUE knowledge within the helping profession would come from the hands on, frontline, immersive work that truly allowed for me to connect with not only the people, but also the systems that are in place to support them.

I obtained my Master’s Degree with a specialization in health and mental health in 2009 and have a Diversity and Inclusion Certification through Cornell University’s external education unit and am a National Mental Health First Aid instructor. My experience has included working as a therapist within Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Mobile Therapy and Behavior Specialist Consultant services to students and families within the Philadelphia area, and serving in the capacity of Clinical Director within a private educational company. In addition, I provided field instruction for both Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania, helping to guide students as they began immersion into the field of social work.

I look forward to continued opportunities of engagement on the programmatic level and sharing my mission to influence positive change within the individual lives, workspaces, schools, and communities of people of color, because we matter.
